Your home is a sacred place. It's where you kiss your child's cheeks or inhale the sweet scent of their hair. It's where you and your spouse share your most intimate moments. It's where knees are scraped and tears are shed, where you bear your hardest news or your best news. Diapers are changed and floors are swept, eggs are scrambled and crockpots roast.

All of it is worth remembering. Every second. Let your children see how you love them, let them see you with them. Feeding them, holding them, bathing them, cherishing them. Better yet, let yourself see how they cherish you.

That's where I come in, and where I bring it all together.

The business stuff:

I'm passionate about a lot of things and one of those things is documenting real life. If you check out my gallery, you'll see why.

I am both a photographer and a filmmaker because I believe each niche is worth my time and passion and allows me to serve my clients in unique ways.

My business is equally devoted to families and weddings, though much of what you'll read around my site refers to family sessions. And here's the thing: families, (most families) begin with a wedding. I just see it all through, even to the end in some cases.

Speaking of weddings, I am partnered with one of Michigan's best wedding venues, working for them as their main filmmaker (often referred to as "videographer"). To find out more, click here.

I have a very important niche to my business, called "Meghan's Beauty for Ashes Project," where I donate (or, gift) full sessions to families enduring pediatric cancer, terminal illness, or NICU/PICU stays. I also offer "End of Life" sessions for those who want to capture their last bit of time together before their loved one passes.

The personal stuff:

I'm 33 years old & have lived in SE Michigan my entire life, but long to move to the west side of the state to be near Lake Michigan & family.

I've been married for close to 5 years to a professional musician by night & nerdy dude by day (ok, we're both nerds).

Together we have a 2 year old son, who is the perfect mix of both of us (passionate, strong-willed, affectionate, & musically inclined). He was born after 36 hours of labor via emergency c-section & spent 2 days in NICU. Last year, I took over 7000 photos of him.

When I'm not mom-ing, I'm learning. Last year, I invested a lot into my education in order to perfect the quality of my images, and this year I'm participating in a year-long workshop taught by one of the world's greatest documentary family photographers, Kirsten Lewis.

Like most stay-at-home moms, coffee plays a pretty significant role in my life, & I won't turn down a glass of Riesling and some chocolate at night. Lastly, I love Target, leggings, crockpots and listening to Sigur Ros (look them up!).

FAQ:

Where does the session take place? Family sessions take place in the client's home, or a mixture of in-home and a location where the client's family loves to visit. The location must be completely natural to them in order to produce the best images.

What is a Day in the Life session? Day in the Life sessions are just that - a documented day of your family's life. These range from 4-12 hours, so you can capture a really important part of your day or your entire day from the second the kids are up until they go to sleep.

Can we do any posing at all? Honestly, no. BUT, twice a year I offer posed portrait mini-sessions, in early Spring and in late Fall. 50% of the proceeds from these sessions is donated to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital of Ann Arbor's NICU.

Will my shy kids be a problem? Nope! Having a kid of my own, I've learned some good tricks to get them to respond and be comfortable with my presence.

Will these family sessions work with only one child? Absolutely!

Why should I choose your products over places like Target or Costco? I'm all about my client experience, from the first second to the last second. We both (the client and myself) put a lot effort into our time together, so every family, bride or groom deserves to have the highest quality available. That's what I offer with my products, which I have meticulously chosen and prepared. When we have our first in person consultation, I'll bring samples of these products with me so you can see (and feel) the quality for yourself. Working with Tribe of the Beloved will be one of the best luxury investments you can make from start to finish.

What do you mean when you say, "luxury?" Okay, you probably were a little taken aback by that word. But here's the thing, luxury to one person is completely different for someone else. When I say that word, I mean that you are investing in art, which is, in fact, a luxury experience. It's not necessary, but it's wonderful and meaningful to have. I provide you with the best art your family will ever hang on its walls or display on its coffee table.

How do I pay? I accept all major credit cards, checks and cash. Your session fee will be paid at the time of booking during our in-person consultation, then all products will be paid for during the reveal & ordering session.

When do I get my photos? I have a very specific process that we start talking about with our first conversation. It goes something like this: Phone chat > In person consultation > Session > Post-session reveal > Delivery of product. The whole process takes no more than 3 weeks with the average booking.

Can I put my photos on Social Media? Absolutely! Every product comes with web-sized digital files (restrictions apply), or you can purchase full resolution images in a separate package.

What do we do during the session? For family sessions, follow your natural routine to the best of your ability. Typically, clients don't even realize I'm there with a camera after the first hour or so.

What do you take pictures of during family sessions? Everything. Everything is on the table. That said, I take extreme care of your privacy, so no bare baby bums or breastfeeding images will be posted on my social media accounts or my website gallery unless express permission is given per image.

Should meals be provided? For weddings and Day in the Life sessions longer than 4 hours, yes.

How long will you be at the hospital during my Just-Born session? For Just-Born sessions, I am at the hospital for up to 2 hours, always during daylight.
